My name is Lloyd Bureau, Cofounder and CEO of TRYNYTY (www.thetrynyty.com). Our company designs, manufactures and distributes some of the highest quality freestyle scooter products in the world.

The Dobson Practicum is a great experience for any student interested in developing their entrepreneurial skills in a real world setting. There is so much more to learn at JMSB than what goes on in the classroom, and this competition is a prime example.

The Practicum was challenging, without becoming a time burden in the busy schedule of a student-entrepreneur. We had the opportunity to be coached by Michel Greiche, who met with us at least once every two weeks to measure our progress, discuss strategy, and make suggestions on the next steps to take. The series of pitches throughout the semester ensured a steady progress of our objectives, which resulted in us reaching the final pitch with a fully operational company and some greatly improved public speaking skills. During the Practicum's 3 month long process, we kept our eyes on the prize and took in all the advice that was given to us throughout the competition. It was incredible to see all of that hard work pay off in the end!

Beyond our company's progress, the coaching, and the prize money, we also had the opportunity to meet with many esteemed members of the Montreal business community who extended to us various resources, advice and even an investment offer...

I would like to congratulate the entrepreneurs at Basilisk and Spinyt for taking 2nd and 3rd place. I would also like to congratulate every team that made it to the $EED Competition. I wish you all the best of success with your current and future ventures!

The practicum was an exceptional experience. With its balanced work-load, it was fully manageable for a full-time student yet it offered a level of value that exceeded my expectations. The mentorship process was also a fantastic experience. During the development months, our mentor helped us not only with business development challenges but also with psychological challenges that we grappled with such as trying to envision the future of the business or loosing motivation after discouraging customer meetings. During the networking cocktails planned, we managed to make some great connections with people who can either help us now or later in developing or accelerating our business. I could not recommend this experience enough.

The Dobson Practicum was an incredible experience that I would highly recommend to all of my peers. I was extremely fortunate to have walked away with a monetary prize – but what I gained in terms of knowledge and network was worth much more! My mentor (who is absolutely amazing) provided me with insightful recommendations and constant encouragement. The program's mentors, events, workshops and deadlines (especially for the business plan and rocket pitch) forced me to be accountable with the progression of my business. All of this, coupled with continuous feedback, has definitely helped me grow both personally and professionally... and this is only the beginning!
